72 DPI is fine for on-screen previews, 150 DPI suits most documents, and 300 DPI matches print quality but uses much more memory.

Rendering at 300 DPI creates very large canvases. To avoid crashing the tab we cap the page count as resolution rises.

PNG keeps text edges crisp and supports transparency; JPG produces much smaller files for photo-heavy pages.
