FAQ

Scanned pages are pictures of text, so no embedded text exists to extract. Use the PDF OCR tool for those.

Text comes out in reading order with page markers, but exact visual layout (columns, tables) is not reconstructed.

Unlock them first with the PDF Unlock tool, then extract.

No. Extraction runs entirely in your browser.

About this tool: PDF to Text

Extract clean text from any PDF

The PDF to Text tool pulls the text layer out of PDF documents and hands it to you as plain, selectable text — page by page, ready to copy, edit or save. Quotes for a report, clauses for a summary, data for analysis: the words leave the PDF layout and become yours to work with.

Copy-paste from PDF viewers is notoriously broken: line breaks in wrong places, hyphenation artefacts, missing spaces. This tool reads the document's actual text structure and produces clean paragraphs, with batch processing for multiple files and ZIP download for the results.

Extraction runs locally in your browser. For scanned PDFs without a text layer, use the PDF OCR tool instead — it recognises characters from the page images. Between the two, no document keeps its text from you.

Like every Piclizer tool, this one runs entirely in your browser — your files stay on your device.
